For months I’ve been anticipating sewing with this beautiful new Elea Lutz collection for Poppie Cotton, and now that the time has come I keep adding more projects to the list! It’s just the cutest. I love every single one of the prints!

I didn’t get everything done in time to show it all in this blog feature, so just consider this a start. My first project was a little girl’s dress in my favorite color way of the tiny bird & berry print. It just screamed 1930s little dress to me.

I used Simplicity 1787, a vintage child’s pattern from my stash, with double ruffle sleeves. It turned out a bit too big for my petite 4-year-old so I had to put it away again until next year – but isn’t it cute?

I added some fun details like gathered pockets and strawberry appliqués.

But I love all the prints so much I of course had to do something quilty with more of them. Last year when I was sewing along with Erica Arndt’s 2025 quilt-along, I loved one of her blocks so much I kept it in mind for a bigger project. I made 4 of the blocks for a table runner and joined them together with one of my favorite prints for sashing.

I quilted it with a little loop meander on the blocks, and a thin feather border. It was quick and easy, and a good length for a table runner or for my long bedroom dresser.

Then since I couldn’t stop, I also made 2 smaller projects. This is a reversible wedge pillow. Did you know if you make a 20 plate Dresden with just 16 plates, you end up with a nice curve to fit over a round pillow form?

Later I wished I had made it with prints all the way around, and also sewed it tight in the middle to make a doughnut shape – so clearly I’ll have to make another, one of these days.

This one I chose the softer prints for one side, and red & blue for the other – so it has a distinct difference depending on which side is up. Just flip it over to change up your seasonal decor!

The blue and pink chirp & charm print were some of my top favorites, so I wanted to make one more thing to especially feature them. I made a quick, basic zipper pouch because you can never have too many project bags!

Naturally I had to add a few cute details with an appliqué flower, strawberry button, and an adorable little girl charm.

I still want to make another project bag in the blue, have a 1940s color block dress planned for me next featuring another favorite print, and I also have started on a bigger project – my first appliqué quilt! Here’s a sneak peek.

So stay tuned – there will be lots more sewing with this charming collection in the future! Elea Lutz is always a favorite, and this is right up there with my top favorite fabric lines of hers – along with Farmhouse Fancy and Home Sweet Home. It was a delight to sew with it!
