I just love it when I find modern clothing, with their washability and integrity of non-disintegrated fabric and thread, that fits right into a past era if you accessorize it or pair it right. Recently I found this jacket at a thrift store. Of a lovely shaded ribbon fabric, it originally came with a short ruffled skirt. Worn with it, it would have looked modern enough. (I had to take it in on the sides and hem up the sleeves an inch or two, but I was determined to make it work.)
But I think that the classic cut and the unique pleats give it the potential for a classy vintage outfit. The pleats make me think of Lilli Ann's beautiful suits in the 1940s and '50s. Worn with a 1950s skirt I made from a vintage Simplicity pattern, and a pair of my treasured 1940s pumps, it fits right in. Fun!
