We had very little winter this year. Seriously. The meadowlarks didn’t even bother to migrate. 🙂 I kept waiting for some snow to take photos of my snow-print dress, but finally gave up and did indoor photos instead. So here you go!

I love this deep teal out-of-print Liberty novelty fabric I got from The Timely Tailor. The hot pink roofs on the tiny cottages remind me of vintage Putz houses. It’s such a fun novelty print, but also not Christmas specific like a lot of winter fabrics are.

I paired it with a pattern I’ve been really wanting to make. I love this style of pleated skirt, and have a few different patterns with it now.

It’s so fun with the horizontal pleats that then swoop down in the back for some really fun skirt lines.

I added a few extra pleats to the sleeves also, just for fun, to echo the skirt pleats.

Other than the unusual skirt construction, which wraps around the front and sides to meet the back panels, and putting the zipper in the back center, it was pretty straightforward. I ended up making a super fast self belt also after trying it on with purchased belts and none of them looked right.

I think the pattern ended up a good match for the fabric, and was very happy with how it turned out. I can pull it out for Christmas and then wear it all winter too.

Right now we seem to be heading straight into spring even if it IS only mid-February, so I probably won’t wear it again this year. But that’s fine with me since I love spring! 🙂

Now I’ll probably jump right into spring & Easter sewing, so now you have seen my one single winter dress for the year. Happy sewing!
